I’m gonna be honest and say it took me a good 15 minutes to type this first sentence. I am not profound in any way with my words, plus…the pressure to come up with an earth-shattering introduction on the first post? Um, scary. I’m going to take some classic rom-com advice from You’ve Got Mail and start like we are in the middle of a conversation; like we are the oldest and dearest of friends. And honestly, I think that’s a great place to start….the rom-coms. I have always been totally and completely in love with the idea of starting a blog or a sort of public diary, and I have to say it can all be credited to the countless rom-coms I’ve watched. You’ve Got Mail, Bridget Jone’s Diary, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Julie & Julia, and Sex and the City, to name a few, have all influenced me to fall in love with the idea of this style of writing. It’s a fun, exciting, captivating, and wildly hilarious read.
A little background on the name…my sister and I decided on “Caffeinated and Confused” over dinner a few nights ago when I first proposed the idea of starting a blog. We both knew the name needed to be catchy, match my personality, and explain the content of the blog while also giving off just the right amount of curiosity that would draw people in to read. “Caffeinated” because I am overly caffeinated a good 98.3% of the time and it shows, and “Confused” because…well heck, who isn’t confused?
If you’ve made it this far, now you get to see the big reveal…the “what”. I knew I wanted to start a blog, but I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to talk about. I’m not really a health and fitness girlie (even though I need to be), I cook but definitely not on a blogging level, I love fashion but I wouldn’t say I am confident enough to give advice to others…so, what would it be? My sister sat across the table from me, both of us pretty excited about the name when she asked, “So, what’s it gonna be about?” The crazy in me took over and I had my answer… “Anything, and everything.” But not just the generic anything and everything. I meant the scariest kind…the In-Your-20s Anything and Everything.
My goal for this blog is to simply talk about the craziness of navigating life as a 20-something-year-old. Moving Out, Adventures, Work, Cooking, Faith, Attempts at the Gym, Dating, Friendships, all of it. I want it to be fun, upbeat, honest, and hilarious, while hopefully showing others in this age range that they aren’t alone. Life is crazy, life is messy, it’s complicated, scary and unknown, but that’s the adventure of it all.
So, there ya go. There’s the story. The earth-shattering introduction to the blog about living life as a 20-something-year-old.
I want this to be a space for people to read, relax, laugh, and know they aren’t alone. No one really tells you how to sort out life when you become an adult! There are so many options…college, finding a career, working because maybe school wasn’t for you, not knowing what you want to do for school or for work, trying to find the right person and settle down, and every single person is different. This is what the blog is all about - navigating this crazy stage of life.
I think I am going to start by posting weekly on Sundays. I love my Sunday afternoons and this will make them even better. So, every Sunday, check in for the newest topic and update on the life of a 20-something-year old. If you subscribe, I believe you get my posts sent directly to your email so that’s pretty cool.
Well, I guess that’s everything for now. I hope you’re as excited as I am. Read at your leisure, and feel free to comment a topic you’d like me to cover. Maybe there is something that’s been extra “what’s up with that?” or “no one tells you this!” in your life lately that you want a second opinion on. That’s what I’m here for, so go for it.
See y’all next Sunday :) Subscribe if you’re up for it.
P.S. I am no grammar expert and I love commas, so if the grammar is terrible…just go with it.
Love love love this and so proud of you!!!
